Job Summary

A Delivery Driver under the National Safety Code (NSC) Transport Canada is responsible for transporting goods from the company's distribution center (factory) to various customer locations in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, adherence to delivery schedules, and maintenance of vehicle safety standards. The Delivery Driver will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

Some key responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Ensure on-time delivery of products to customers according to the delivery schedule.
  • Verify delivery instructions, addresses, and accuracy of loads before departure.
  • Safely load, unload, and secure cargo using appropriate equipment (hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, etc.).
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, keep the vehicle clean and fueled, maintain logs (mileage, fuel, maintenance), and promptly report any defects or needed repairs.
  • Operate and care for transport trucks, construction equipment, tools, and machines.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, safety policies, PPE requirements, and comply with applicable regulations (Motor Vehicle Act, National Safety Code, CVSE, and company standards).
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, handling complaints professionally, and escalating issues when needed.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, obtain required signatures, and submit all documentation (delivery logs, bills of lading, waybills, reports).
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, factory and construction site staff, and customers; provide updates on delivery status and report delays.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Ability to physically perform construction-related tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with minimum two years experience and Heavy Trailer Endorsement
  • Clean drivers abstract (N abstract from ICBC).
  • Forklift Operator ticket.
  • Prior experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), with frequent bending, loading/unloading, and prolonged periods of sitting/driving.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements in a construction and manufacturing workplace.
  • Basic knowledge of common computer software applications and desire to learn our automation interface.
  • Wood framing construction knowledge and experience is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, systematic and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
  • Driving for various periods of time.
  • Working and driving in various weather conditions
  • Deliveries are typically performed on construction sites, which may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, and hazardous materials.
