Senior Tax Accountant

Position Summary
Spraggs Group is building an integrated model that combines legal, advisory, and technology to support Canadian small and mid sized businesses. We are hiring a senior tax professional to own tax strategy and execution across our operating companies and to help us deliver high quality tax advisory to our clients.

This is a hands on role. You will design strategies, pressure test plans with counsel, and drive the work through to completion.

Position Type:  Full-time (or senior fractional with a clear path to full time)

Responsibilities

Build and execute tax strategies that support growth, hiring and scale for all Spraggs companies

Create a clean, scalable tax advisory offering we can confidently deliver to clients, alongside our legal and advisory teams

Reduce reliance on external accounting referrals by bringing more strategy and execution in house while maintaining tax risk controls and professional standards.

Lead tax planning across the group including entity structuring support, transfer pricing, and tax efficient decision making tied to our operating plan.

Own year round tax compliance oversight across the group (corporate, sales tax, payroll related filings) with a focus on accuracy and readiness for review

Partner with corporate legal counsel on corporate group restructuring, ownership changes, and documentation that requires tax alignment.

Act as a CRA facing representative as required, with appropriate authorization levels and a strong compliance posture.

Provide tax planning advice to Spraggs clients, often in collaborations with our corporate lawyers

Scope engagements, deliver clear written recommendations, and follow through to implementation.

Collaborate with Delivery on intake and discovery so client advice is consistent, efficient, and defensible.

Collaborate with our product team where tax workflows can be turned into scalable offerings.

What You Bring

CPA designation strongly preferred with at least five years professional experience

Significant Canadian tax experience with a focus on owner-managed and growth-oriented businesses.

Demonstrated capability with corporate tax planning and reorganizations; CPA Canada In Depth Tax training is a major asset.

Comfort working with CRA processes, including representative authorization and proper handling of submissions.

Experience working alongside corporate lawyers on transactions, restructurings, and related documentation.

Experience in working in a fast pace, growth-oriented commercial environment.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues in plain language.
