Job Summary

The Hardware Systems Engineer will play a key role in unifying our diverse portfolio of hardware products—including cameras, DVRs, mirrorless camera systems, and telematics devices—into a cohesive and dependable customer experience. This role is responsible for understanding how each device operates, defining and validating the interfaces between them, and ensuring that all devices seamlessly integrate from both a hardware and embedded software perspective.

Working cross functionally with hardware engineering, embedded firmware, product management, and manufacturing teams, the Hardware Systems Engineer will lead system level design, troubleshoot interoperability issues, and guide the successful integration of new hardware platforms into our broader ecosystem. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in embedded systems, excellent problem solving skills, and a passion for building robust, user centric hardware solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively across Product, Project, Hardware Engineering, and Embedded Software teams to align goals, clarify technical requirements, and drive the seamless integration of hardware platforms
  • Review product requirements and translate into design requirements to be implemented by overseas partners. Including guidance on optical, electrical, and mechanical performance.
  • Assist in the design and development being done by remote teams by providing clearly written design specifications.
  • Test prototypes to verify operation and design compliance:
Environmental, electrical, and optical testing (Thermal, Humidity, vibration, image quality, etc.)
  • Champion portfolio wide performance improvements by analyzing how hardware subsystems and vendor supplied components interact, highlighting opportunities to expand hardware reuse across multiple products.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, and quality teams with hardware-related issues.
  • Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000/yr CAD

The final offer will be determined based on a combination of factors including skills, experience, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities.

  • Candidates at the lower end of the range will meet the core qualifications and demonstrate strong potential to grow within the role.
  • Mid-range offers reflect a solid match with the role’s technical and collaborative requirements.
