About The Opportunity

The Civil Estimator plays an essential role in developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction and infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of senior estimators and in collaboration with project managers and engineers, this position supports all phases of the estimating process — from reviewing tender documents to final bid preparation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail‑oriented professional with a solid foundation in civil construction estimating who’s ready to take on more responsibility and contribute to large‑scale public and private sector projects.

This opportunity is available to candidates based in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam, Abbotsford, Delta, Richmond, and Langley.

About The Position

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for a range of civil construction projects, including roads, highways, utilities, and site developments.
  • Conduct quantity take‑offs from drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Develop accurate pricing for materials, equipment, and labor based on current market rates.
  • Analyze project scope to identify risks, exclusions, and opportunities for value engineering.
  • Support the preparation of bid submissions and tender documentation.
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings and site visits to gather information relevant to estimating accuracy.
  • Ensure all bids are compliant with client requirements and company standards.
  • Work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and engineers to validate cost assumptions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to align on project scope, schedule, and constructability considerations.
  • Contribute to internal reviews and post‑tender evaluations to improve estimating performance.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, supplier lists, and historical project data.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to enhance efficiency and consistency in estimates.
  • Recommend process improvements and assist in the development of estimating templates and standards.

The Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field.
  • 3–7 years of estimating experience in civil construction, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Heavy Bid, Bid2

    Win, Sage Estimating)
  • Proven track record preparing detailed estimates for projects such as roads, highways, utilities, earthworks, and municipal infrastructure.
  • Experience working with public and private tender processes, including bid preparation and submission.

Compensation

  • Salary: $110,000 – $140,000 DOE
