JOB TITLE: Locksmith II REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance
PAY GRADE: Aux 3/260 days/8 hours DEPT./SCHOOL: Maintenance

PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of new and existing mechanical and electronic locks.

• High School Diploma
• Valid Texas Driver License

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Effective communication skills
• Basic knowledge of lock repair, installation and maintenance
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to diagnose and repair problems
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to speak, read, and understand English

• Receive and complete work orders.
• Install, repair, and maintain mechanical locks, including interior and exterior doors, file cabinets, desks, safes, and gates.
• Maintain a systematic key inventory for the district.
• Duplicate keys using key duplicating machine.
• Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
• Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
• Ensure that vehicles, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition and perform preventive maintenance.
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

• Hand tools, hand or electric drill, key coding machine, and key duplicating machine.
• Light truck or van.
