Position

Physician (MD/DO) to join our team at the Veteran Affairs (VA) Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Denton, TX. Qualified candidates must be board eligible or certified in family medicine or internal medicine (IM/FM). Position Summary

Provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to veteran patients with diseases and injuries seeking treatment in the clinic. You will collaborate with the core PACT Team (LPN, RN, and Medical Assistant) and expanded PACT Team including family/caregiver, VA, and community-based services involved in developing the patient care plan.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., no nights, no on-call, and no weekends.

Core Responsibilities
  • Actively diagnose and treat veterans.
  • Examine patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders; determine nature and extent of injury/disorder; perform comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans and provide continuity of care.
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe medications and recommend dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
  • Counsel patients on medications, educate patients, assess mental health, and provide routine health maintenance.
  • Evaluate records from non-VA providers and coordinate co-managed care per VA rules.
  • Complete clinical reminders and document the medical record within 24 hours of encounter.
  • Solicit medical management input when appropriate; comply with VA guidelines for responses, alerts, notices, and tests.
  • Collaborate with mid-level staff; ensure timely clinical documentation and close of business for encounters.
  • Address clinical needs of walk-in/triage/urgent care patients; comply with VA and company training requirements.
  • Maintain women’s health certification competencies as required by VA; meet OIG, JC, EOC, lab compliance, and related standards.
  • Focus on achieving excellent clinical outcomes per VA guidelines; provide excellent customer service to veterans and colleagues; support enrollment efforts and scheduling guidance; participate in outreach initiatives and strategic initiatives supporting Valor’s growth.

Final compensation will be based on work experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of clinical medical practice; government healthcare environment preferred; specifics may vary based on VA contract.
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Degree.
  • Board certified in family practice or internal medicine (or eligible).
  • Must be credentialed and in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
  • Valid, unrestricted medical license in the state of employment or applicable VA requirements.
  • Current BLS (and ACLS as required by VA contract).
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; excellent computer skills; energetic and optimistic demeanor.
  • Strong service mentality and commitment to defined service standards.
  • Safety sensitive position.
