Software Engineering Director – AI-Driven Audit

Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting North America is hiring a senior engineering leader to build the next generation of AI-powered capabilities for our cloud audit solutions. You will lead a dedicated innovation team creating intelligent, automation-ready components that materially improve the speed, quality, and consistency of audit work for thousands of professionals.

This role is ideal for a director who has delivered complex, cloud-native systems at scale and wants to own a high-visibility charter applying modern AI to real customer workflows.

What You’ll Lead

A focused engineering team responsible for developing:

  • AI-driven reasoning capabilities used throughout audit workflows
  • Document understanding and structured-data extraction systems
  • Dynamic workflow automation that accelerates auditor decision-making
  • Iterative prototypes validated directly with design-partner firms
  • Secure, scalable services and APIs integrated into our cloud audit suite

This team operates with a rapid-iteration model centered on customer validation and disciplined 0→1 execution.

How You’ll Work

You will collaborate closely with product leaders, designers, audit domain experts, cloud platform teams, and select firms to:

  • Identify high-value AI opportunities in the audit workflow
  • Build and test prototypes that demonstrate measurable customer benefit
  • Scale validated capabilities into production‑grade cloud services
  • Establish engineering patterns for AI‑first development across the portfolio
  • Ensure high standards for quality, security, and operational excellence
What Success Looks Like
  • A high-performing AI-focused engineering team with predictable iteration velocity
  • Repeated delivery of validated AI capabilities customers actually adopt
  • Clear architecture and integration patterns supporting intelligent workflows
  • Strong field signals from design‑partner firms confirming value and usability
  • A durable pipeline of AI‑driven enhancements aligned to product strategy
Qualifications Required
  • 10+ years software development; 8+ years in senior engineering leadership
  • Experience delivering enterprise‑scale cloud systems
  • Expertise in .NET/C#, cloud-native architectures, and distributed systems
  • Hands‑on technical capability (AI‑assisted development)
  • Track record shipping 0→1 products with rapid iteration cycles
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies such as LLMs, agents, or NLP
  • Ability to lead multi‑team efforts in a matrixed, fast‑paced environment
Preferred
  • Background in accounting, fintech, audit, or workflow systems
  • Experience leading innovation/incubation teams
  • Familiarity with financial compliance or assurance processes
Location Requirement

This role requires extended onsite colocation in Dallas to support high‑velocity decision‑making, rapid prototyping, and close collaboration. Candidates must either:

  • Relocate to Dallas, or
  • Commit to extensive multi‑week onsite travel aligned to team operating rhythms
Why This Role Is Different

This is not incremental feature development. You will lead engineering for next‑generation, AI‑native capabilities in a market undergoing rapid transformation. You will operate with a distinct charter, faster cadence, and direct executive visibility—building intelligent systems that change how auditors work.
