Job Overview

Medical City Dallas, a part of HCA Healthcare, is looking for an RN Med Surg Full‑Time Day Shift (7:00 am–7:00 pm) with rotating weekends. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with state and specialty standards.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care in line with the department requirements and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. You will collaborate with medical providers and the care team, providing personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." Additionally, you will act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

  • Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow‑up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Associate's Degree required, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position
  • Current RN license in the State of TX or compact license
  • BLS, Basic Cardiac Life Support, required and issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer and issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • Previous acute care hospital experience preferred
