Maintenance SupervisorThe Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing maintenance work orders, electrical repairs, PLC programming, and ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
Duties and Responsibilities- Before performing any work on the equipment, be sure to lock out all energy sources according to OSHA guidelines.
- Communicate to affected employees, including production, sanitation, and contractors working on the same line.
- Follow all master safety rules and GMP policies as necessary.
- Inspect the equipment for any damaged brittle plastics; if any damage is noticed, report to the manager or supervisor.
- Inspect for dry or over‑greased bearings, transmissions, reducers, motors, or chains.
- Inspect all movable parts in equipment for fast wear.
- Look for metal‑to‑metal contact to avoid product contamination.
- Inspect all air filters and replace as needed to avoid product contamination.
- Ensure all safety devices are working properly per manufacturer settings/specifications.
- Look for conveyor material damage such as fraying edges or excessive slack on belts and replace or repair as needed.
- Inspect all catch pans for grease, oil, etc.; catch pans must cover the entire area beneath or around bearings or motors to avoid product contamination.
- Inspect and reconcile all tools before releasing equipment for production, and remove locks from all energy sources.
- Replace parts on equipment such as chains, bearings, motors, transmissions, sprockets, pulleys, belts, food‑contact belts, conveyor guides, lights, filters, conveyor flights, wear strips, etc.
- Perform hot work on equipment (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.).
- Perform inspection on all lines’ equipment when it is in operation.
- Replace transformers, power supplies, contractors, starters, coils, etc., on equipment.
- Electrical troubleshooting on any piece of equipment.
- Replace frequency drives and program as necessary.
- Replace panel views and program as necessary.
- Replace boards on PLCs.
- Perform any modification to electrical drawings as needed to keep the line running, approved by the maintenance manager.
- Create new programs for PLCs.
- Modify PLC programs.
- Create a schedule for employees.
- Attend DH meetings.
- Schedule work orders.
- Maintain compliance with food safety and quality standards such as SQF, FSMA, and HACCP.
- Electrical Engineer degree or related training and experience (by different plants or external).
- Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish).
- Strong supervisory and administrative skills.
- Soft/professional/managerial skills are highly important.
- Must be able to present issues to top management with proactive solutions.
