The Director of Strategy has the responsibility to oversee strategic initiatives, improve business processes, and support the company’s long-term success through informed decision making and operational efficiency. This role involves developing, planning, and adjusting the organization’s strategic and long‑term objectives across all company levels, as well as identifying new market growth opportunities, with a strong understanding of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environments and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) distribution models.
EssentialFunctions
- Strategy Translation & Deployment:
Translate corporate strategy into clear strategic priorities, initiatives, and execution roadmaps across business units and functions. - Growth Strategy:
Develop and implement strategies for major growth areas by identifying opportunities, setting priorities, creating business cases, and guiding cross‑functional teams to achieve impactful business outcomes. - Enterprise Execution Management:
Ensure consistent execution of strategic initiatives through disciplined governance, standardized methodologies, and regular performance reviews. - Strategic Initiative Portfolio Management:
Own and manage the enterprise portfolio of strategic initiatives, ensuring prioritization, resource allocation, dependency management, and benefits realization. - Performance Management:
Establish and oversee an enterprise performance management framework, including strategic KPIs, scorecards, and dashboards aligned to company objectives. - Strategy Review Cadence:
Lead regular strategy review and performance forums (monthly/quarterly), ensuring accountability, issue resolution, and course correction as needed. - Cross Functional Alignment:
Act as the central coordination point between functions to resolve tradeoffs, manage interdependencies, and ensure alignment with strategic priorities. - Benefits Realization:
Track and validate the financial and operational impact of strategic initiatives, ensuring value capture and transparency. - Planning and Performance:
Orchestrate annual and long‑range planning efforts to achieve priorities and drive performance and accountability for all business units. - Annual Budgeting:
Ensure the planning and budgeting process is aligned with the Company’s strategy and strategic initiatives. - Enterprise Governance:
Develop and implement governance structures to enable effective decision making and execution across departments and organizations. - Data Accuracy:
Responsible for the organization’s data consumption, publication, and comprehensive visualization of information to support strategic and operational decisions. - Customer Service:
Maintain efficient B2B service by leveraging deep knowledge of CPG customer service, order management, and claims processes within a DSD model. - Executive Reporting:
Ensure precise, accurate, and timely communication of strategic progress and results to the parent company and executive leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related field (e.g., Economics, Finance, Business Administration) is required.
- MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of total professional experience, with significant experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies operating under a Direct Store Delivery (DSD) distribution model.
- Preferably at least 2 years in management consulting or enterprise strategy roles.
- 5+ years of people management experience, including experience managing large, cross‑functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience aligning corporate strategy with operational execution in complex, route‑to‑market and DSD environments.
