Job Description

As part of the CTO Office, you will serve as a strategic technical leader driving Nokia’s Data Center (DC) Networking for AI strategy and vision. This role combines architecture authority, industry thought leadership, and hands‑on prototyping to shape products in Optical, IP and Switching to address the immense growth in centralized and distributed AI clusters build outs globally. You will work closely with hyperscalers, Neocloud and CSP customers in transforming their long‑term DC deployment strategy and be their trusted technology advisor.

You will influence standards, guide product strategy, and work with technology partners such as AMD, NVIDIA, compute/storage vendors to accelerate adoption of cutting‑edge DC technologies.

Strategic Architecture Leadership
  • Define future‑state architectures for Data Center Networks including designs for scale up, scale‑out and scale‑across AI clusters
  • Work on large scale centralized AI Factories and distributed inference edge architectures
  • Integrate networking blueprints with modern orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes/K8s) to ensure seamless resource scheduling for AI workloads.
  • Design end‑end blueprint for AI Grid deployments
  • Drive architectural decisions that influence product roadmaps and ecosystem partnerships.
Thought Leadership & Industry Engagement
  • Represent Nokia in standards bodies.
  • Publish whitepapers, and shape industry narratives on AI DCs
  • Work closely with AI‑RAN and Autonomous Network Architects in developing end‑end architecture covering AI‑driven operations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives and customers on technology strategy.
Innovation & Prototyping
  • Build reference implementations, POCs, and accelerators for AI DC networking
  • Lead performance benchmarking initiatives using industry‑standard tools to validate latency, throughput, and collective communication efficiency in AI fabrics.
  • Develop and implement observability stacks (e.g., telemetry, flow logs, and AI‑driven insights) to monitor fabric health and workload performance.
  • Work with Nokia’s products including hardware products covering IP, Optical and automation platforms such as NSP, EDA etc.
  • Validate emerging concepts such as multi‑plane AI DC designs for backend fabrics, and DCI/Scale‑across utilizing packet and optical assets.
  • Develop CSP architecture covering AI‑RAN, AI‑Core and AI‑Grid.
  • Collaborate with research teams to transition innovations into production‑ready solutions.
Technical Domains
  • AI DC Networking – Rail optimized, Rail aligned and NCP Reference Architectures using Ethernet fabrics with expert understanding of congestion management, congestion avoidance, load balancing etc.
  • Strong IP/MPLS protocol knowledge (EVPN, SR‑MPLS, SRv6, BGP)
  • DC Interconnect and DC On‑Ramp Edge designs using IP/Optical assets
  • Cloud‑Native Architecture:
    Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git Ops
  • Telemetry & Observability:
    Streaming data pipelines, Open Telemetry, real‑time analytics for DC fabrics, including integration with tools such as Nokia EDA
  • AI/ML for DC Network Operations:
    Predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, intent verification.
  • Programming:
    Python for high‑performance and automation workflows.
How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
  • Research, designs, plans, develops and / or evaluates new advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design.
  • Work typically includes in‑depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modelling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high‑speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality.
  • Designs, defines and implements integrated hardware / software systems requirements for customers and / or prepares studies and analyses existing systems.
  • Determines system specifications, input / output processes and working parameters for hardware / software compatibility.
  • Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system.
  • Identifies, analyses and resolves program support deficiencies.
