As a Multiomics Field Application Scientist here at Illumina in Italy or Spain, you will play a central role in ensuring the success of our customers across Europe by enabling adoption and effective use of our rapidly growing Multiomics portfolio. You will collaborate closely with commercial teams, product development, technical support, and global partners to deliver expert consultation, workflow implementation, and training for new and emerging technologies.
In this role, you will serve as a scientific authority during both pre‑sales and post‑sales engagements, supporting complex customer workflows while contributing to strategic product launches. You will join an award‑winning customer support organisation renowned for innovation, excellence, and industry‑leading customer satisfaction.
Why You
You are an experienced scientist with deep expertise in genomics, sequencing applications, and Illumina technologies, ideally complemented by strong knowledge of spatial transcriptomics or single‑cell RNA‑seq. You are fluent in English and either Spanish or Italian, and comfortable operating across diverse cultural and scientific environments. You bring hands‑on experience with molecular biology, primary cells, tissue dissociation, cryostat workflows, or advanced imaging technologies, and you are confident advising on experimental design, sample preparation, and data interpretation.
Your communication skills are exceptional - whether presenting to customers, delivering training, or partnering cross‑functionally - and you excel at conveying complex concepts with clarity. You thrive in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments, demonstrate poise under pressure, and approach every interaction with a customer‑first mindset. Alongside your technical strength, you are organised , self‑driven, collaborative, and motivated to solve problems, remove barriers, and help customers achieve scientific success.
Key Responsibilities Include New Product Introductions & Scientific Expertise- Support new product launches through alpha/beta testing, feedback collection, and early‑access customer engagements across HEMIS‑Mediterranean.
- Develop collateral such as SOPs, technical bulletins, and internal training materials.
- Provide expert scientific guidance during pre - and post‑sales activities for new multiomics offerings.
- Lead complex workflow implementations and large‑scale onboarding projects.
- Deliver on‑site and virtual training for Illumina instruments, workflows, and applications.
- Consult on advanced experimental design, data interpretation, and workflow strategy.
- Partner with sales, marketing, product support, and global teams to drive product adoption and customer success.
- Contribute to product core teams and strategic planning for new business opportunities.
- Work across departments to influence regional strategies and support key initiatives.
