Assistant General Counsel, Consumer Protection & External Affairs

Overview

Employer Industry: Higher Education

• Provide legal advice and serve as in-house counsel on various matters
• Assist with federal regulatory matters related to accredited institutions of higher education
• Negotiate and draft contracts, legal documents, and policies
• Review university programs, procedures, and policies for legal compliance
• Provide legal and compliance training to in-house clients

• At least three years of experience in the practice of law
• Bachelor’s degree and JD from an ABA-accredited law school
• Bar admission, or ability to become admitted, in Virginia, Minnesota, Maryland, or Washington, DC
• Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to apply independent judgment

• Experience in higher education law
• Familiarity with federal and state legal compliance issues
• Strong computer/word processing skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products

• Salary up to $124,200
