SUMMARY:
As a participant in the RIT paid Co-Op, you will gain exposure and experience in the healthcare field, specifically in Information Systems & Technology.
In this role, you will work alongside analysts and engineers to help build, maintain, and interpret data models that drive key business decisions. This is a hands‑on opportunity for someone who is passionate about data, eager to learn new tools and technologies, and thrives in an environment where initiative and clear communication are valued.
What You’ll Do:- Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data models that support reporting and analytics needs.
- Explore and analyze datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for insight.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and communicate findings clearly.
- Document data pipelines, model logic, and analytical processes for team reference.
- Learn and apply new data tools and technologies as project needs evolve.
- Work within Microsoft Fabric and One Lake to access, organize, and manage data assets across the lakehouse architecture.
- Support the development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure business performance and inform strategic decisions.
- Contribute to data quality initiatives including validation, cleansing, and standardization. Present findings and summaries to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Comfort and curiosity with learning new technologies, platforms, and methodologies on the fly.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or similar data tools (coursework counts!). Exposure to data modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, ERDs, normalization) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, One Lake, or similar modern data lakehouse platforms is an asset.
- Understanding of KPI frameworks and experience translating business goals into measurable metrics is a bonus.
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker is an asset.
- Student of RIT.
- Background in the field of study which coincides with the department utilizing the co‑op.
