Overview

The Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) is a critical role within Cotiviti’s Design-Driven Development (DDD) team, responsible for shaping product direction through discovery, design, and strategic collaboration. This role goes beyond executional UX/UI work and serves as a design and product partner to Product Management and Engineering—helping define the right problems to solve, validating solutions early, and enabling teams to build high-quality, customer-centered products with confidence.

Operating within a DDD model, this designer will front-load discovery, reduce delivery risk, and ensure design intent is clearly communicated and development-ready before and during build. The ideal candidate brings strong UX/UI craft, product design rigor, and product strategy thinking, with the ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints in a complex, regulated domain.

Responsibilities

Design-Driven Discovery & Product Strategy

  • Lead and contribute to discovery efforts, including problem framing, user research, workflow definition, hypothesis generation, and concept validation.
  • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to uncover user needs, pain points, and unmet opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers to influence product vision, define outcomes, and shape roadmaps through design insights.
  • Facilitate discovery workshops, design studios, and alignment sessions to build shared understanding across teams.
  • Synthesize research, stakeholder input, and system constraints into actionable insights and design principles.

Product Design & UX/UI Execution

  • Design end-to-end user experiences across complex, data-heavy web and mobile applications, with a focus on clarity, efficiency, and usability.
  • Translate complex workflows, business rules, and domain constraints into intuitive, human-centered experiences.
  • Create comprehensive design artifacts, including workflows, journey maps, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, and interactive prototypes.
  • Ensure designs are intuitive, accessible, scalable, and aligned with user needs, business objectives, and platform standards.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to evaluate feasibility, identify constraints, and refine solutions.
  • Iterate designs based on user feedback, usability testing, validation findings, stakeholder input, and evolving product requirements.
  • Balance design quality with delivery timelines, making thoughtful tradeoffs without compromising core user needs.

Design Enablement & Delivery

  • Produce clear, build-ready design artifacts that enable efficient development and reduce rework.
  • Collaborate with Engineering throughout the delivery lifecycle, including refinement, sprint planning, and implementation support.
  • Leverage tools such as Figma and Dev Mode to support effective design-to-development handoff.
  • Partner with developers during implementation to answer questions, review builds, and ensure design quality.

Design Systems & Standards

  • Contribute to and evolve design systems, workflow components, and reusable patterns.
  • Apply existing design system components consistently while identifying opportunities for extension or refinement.
  • Ensure consistency across products while allowing flexibility for unique use cases.
  • Advocate for design quality, usability, and accessibility standards across teams.
  • Promote reuse and standardization to improve efficiency and reduce design and development debt.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Present design concepts, rationale, and product narratives to stakeholders at varying levels.
  • Facilitate alignment across Product, Engineering, and Design through clear storytelling and shared understanding.
  • Act as a design leader within cross-functional teams, modeling best practices and design thinking.
  • Promote reuse and standardization to improve efficiency and reduce design and development debt.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS or MA/MS in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human Computer Interface Design, Visual Arts, Product Design, or equivalent program required.
  • 7–10 years of experience designing user experiences for mobile and web apps, or experience in visual or interaction design.
