This position will be instrumental in defining and designing new features that enable the support organization to quickly triage, identify, and direct incoming product issues with the goal of resolving all inquiries within 24 hours. This role will also be responsible for investigating and designing methods, using Machine Learning, to predict potential future system failures and provide prioritized alerts to administrators.
They will also define the RAS technical roadmap, ensure scalability, and integrate network software with underlying hardware (ASICs).
The Senior Staff Engineer, Software works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.
Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
- Define and drive the RAS architecture of network operating systems (NOS), for network switch platforms.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineering teams and ASIC vendors (Broadcom, Marvell, Nvidia) to integrate SONiC with merchant silicon and optimize performance using the Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI).
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain features and enhancements for the SONiC NOS platform.
- Provide high-level architectural direction, mentor software engineers, and lead technical discussions across cross-functional teams (Product, QA, Hardware, Security).
- Create and maintain technical documentation (high-level designs, architecture guides) and enforce coding standards for scalability, security, and interoperability.
