Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you an experienced investment professional who has seen how global markets truly operate across regions and asset classes? Do you question whether professional education fully reflects the complexity of modern investment management? Would you value a role where your practitioner judgement shapes a globally recognised credential?

CFA Institute is seeking a Director, Practice Analysis to operate at the intersection of real-world investment practice and curriculum development. This is a strategic individual contributor role with enterprise impact, ensuring our credentials remain rigorous, globally relevant, and grounded in how investment professionals actually perform.

Practice Analysis forms the foundation of our education programmes. It reflects the knowledge and skills required of competent practitioners across a broad range of investment-related roles and translates global industry insight into structured curriculum frameworks. As our portfolio spans the CFA Program and a growing suite of certificates and specialised offerings, this role ensures consistent, forward-looking alignment across our educational product offerings.

What

You’ll Do
  • Develop and refine core Practice Analysis frameworks, including the Candidate Body of Knowledge.
  • Conduct structured, evidence-based research into evolving investment practices across regions, asset classes and market structures.
  • Develop and facilitate global advisory panels and subject matter expert working groups to capture practitioner insight at depth.
  • Synthesise complex industry input into clear, defensible curriculum recommendations.
  • Partner closely with Learning Content colleagues to ensure learning outcomes reflect how investment decisions are made in practice.
  • Engage with senior investment professionals across markets to test assumptions and validate emerging themes.
  • Support alignment across programmes and certificates, including areas such as private markets, private wealth, and emerging technologies in the investment process.
What We’re Looking For
  • CFA Charter holder or have passed CFA Level III.
  • Significant experience as an investment industry practitioner with a demonstrated understanding of analyst and portfolio manager roles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the full investment management process, ideally across multiple asset classes.
  • Practical exposure across several CFA topic areas, with the ability to integrate insights across disciplines.
  • A genuinely global orientation, evidenced by international experience, cross-border mandates, emerging markets exposure or multi-region stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong research discipline and intellectual rigour, with the ability to move from practitioner insight to structured frameworks and written outputs.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging senior industry professionals.
  • Comfort operating autonomously within a globally distributed team across UK, US and APAC time zones.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as Excel, Python, R, SQL or major financial data platforms.
  • Experience contributing to industry thought leadership or professional education initiatives.
Why Join Us
  • Apply your practitioner expertise at a strategic, global level to shape the future direction of one of the world’s most respected investment credentials.
  • Engage with leading investment professionals across asset classes and regions.
  • Contribute to a mission‑driven organisation dedicated to strengthening the investment profession.
