Responsible for the design and engineering of high voltage cable systems. This includes the definition of technical solutions, preparation of technical documentation for Customer and specifications for internal or sub‑contractor’s use. Participation in meetings with Customers’ representatives at all stages of the enquiry and contract to ensure compliance with Customers’ requirements and Customer’s satisfaction. Compilation and review of detailed costing of all materials and services and production of the technical content to be submitted to Customers.
Support in the preparation of formal documentation and design information for the manufacture of cable, accessories, and for cable installation activities. Occasionally, work on details of specific aspects which are typically not completely defined at offer stage e.g., design of special parts, definition/coordination of qualification testing, design of prototypes, etc. This part includes the optimization of cable and system design to reduce project costs and increase competitiveness.
Participation in technical presentations with Customers, department meetings, technical conferences, seminars and workshops. Development of new calculation procedures and computer methods for determining product and system technical proposals and ensure that all calculation and working procedures comply with the necessary technical and quality standards and procedures.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 5 years of experience in cable manufacturing industry. 5 years of experience in design and engineering of underground High Voltage cable systems sub‑345kV. 5 years of experience in design calculation methods and computer solutions and developing and improving these through mathematics and computer programming. 2 years of experience in cable and accessories construction and their characteristics.
2 years of experience reading and understanding customer specifications. 2 years of experience in design and engineering of underground High Voltage cable systems 345kV and above. 2 years of experience understanding of relevant national and international standards, including AEIC, ICEA, IEC and Cigre (e.g., AEIC CS9, ICEA S-108-720, IEC 60287, IEC 62067, IEC 60228, Cigre TB 303, Cigre, TB 283).
Experience in modeling of electrical systems in ATP‑EMTP. May work remotely subject to company policy from Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, Illinois, Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, or immediately adjacent states. If the candidate resides within a reasonable commuting distance to Prysmian’s U.S. headquarters in Highland Heights, KY, in‑office presence is expected. Travel to Prysmian’s U.S. headquarters in Highland Heights, KY is required approximately once per month and occasional travel approximately once per quarter for 3‑4 days is also required to its location in Abbeville, SC, its location in Lexington, SC, or customer locations.
