Summary

The Family Medicine Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care services to individuals and families across the lifespan in a community driven environment.

Job Description:

Principal Activities & Responsibilities
  • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with a team of providers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and community health workers.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Participates in clinical quality improvement initiatives and health promotion programs.
  • May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  • Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follows standards of care established by the clinic and ensures compliance with federal, tribal, and state regulations.
  • Supports community outreach and public health efforts as a representative of the clinic.
  • Collaborates efficiently and effectively while consistently demonstrating professionalism and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with internal teams, external partners, and Tribal members.
  • Other duties as directed by management.
Level Of Authority & Restrictions
  • No supervisory responsibilities or decision-making authority.
Physical & Mental Demands
  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Moderate physical activity.
  • Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Working Conditions & Environment
  • Will require working occasional nights and/or weekends.
  • Must be willing and able to travel both locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area.
  • Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions and distractions.
  • Lighting conditions may be very bright or very dim.
  • Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
  • May be regularly exposed to unfavorable conditions, including body fluids and hazardous chemicals. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required to ensure safety.
  • May involve potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biohazardous materials.
HOURS
  • 40 hours per week
  • 10 hour days

Required Experience MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to be insured to drive Tribal Government vehicles.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon.
  • Medial degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience, which may include residency in Family Medicine or a related specialty.
  • Current Federal DEA certification
  • CPR (BLS) certification.
  • Experience providing care via telemedicine platforms
  • Proficient in assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of health conditions.
  • Knowledge of current standards in medical ethics, legal compliance, and infection control.
  • Skilled in prescribing medication and non-pharmaceutical treatments with appropriate patient education.
  • Familiarity with community-based diagnostic and patient care services.
  • Understanding of accreditation and certification standards relevant to clinical care.
  • Up-to-date on best practices in medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capable of supervising, mentoring, and training clinical staff or students.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering educational sessions or workshops.
  • Experience and proficiency in the use of Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal history background check, which will include fingerprinting.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.
