Mission and Purpose

Family Promise in Anoka County (FPAC) is a nonprofit organization providing shelter, eviction prevention, and housing stabilization to families in Anoka County experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. With a goal of moving families to permanent, sustainable housing, Family Promise provides individualized, person‑centered, trauma‑informed care and case management to help families address barriers and set achievable goals for housing stability. Community engagement and support from volunteers from over 20 local congregations and numerous community partners advance the mission -- Empowering families experiencing housing insecurity to build a foundation of lasting independence.

In 2025, Family Promise served 308 individuals from 83 families. Family Promise is in a time of change and growth as it grows to serve the greater needs of those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the community and is in the process of building a permanent, site‑based model for providing shelter while continue to grow our stabilization and prevention offerings.

Position

Family Promise is seeking a Communications and Technology Coordinator to start in April, 2026. This is a full‑time position with somewhat flexibly scheduled at 36 hours per week. As a hybrid working position, it includes some regularly scheduled office hours and some flexible work‑from‑home time. Wages will be $25-30/hour, depending on education, skills, certifications, and years of experience related to the job duties.

A $300 per month health insurance stipend and 3% SIMPLE IRA match are available. This position will be based at the Family Service Center in Coon Rapids, MN, with some travel around Anoka County.

Duties
  • Promote a positive public image and manage the dissemination of information on the organization’s behalf.
  • Work independently and step into a role, making it their own while working with the staff and Communications Committee to promote the mission and engage the network of volunteers, donors, community partners and congregations to support families as they move from housing insecurity to independence.
  • Drive effective communication through internal and external weekly and monthly electronic newsletters, print pieces, website updates, social media channels, special event coordination.
  • Support the technical needs of our volunteer and donor systems, including registrations, automated responses, and donor and volunteer tracking systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate donor and volunteer data is captured and curated in our Bloomerang CRM and other related software.
  • Maintain organization’s accounts in communications‑related products such as Canva, Mailchimp, and Youtube, as well as our website and social media platforms.
  • Generate engaging, brand‑consistent content for social media platforms, email, and print items.
  • Support development and fundraising efforts to help Family Promise achieve its mission.
  • Work with staff to develop and manage procedures and systems to ensure quality and timely communications.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and collaborations with other local organizations and partners.
  • Support program activities and perform other duties related to the general operations of Family Promise.
Skills and Experience

Degree in Communications, Public Relations, a related field, or relevant work or experience.

  • Experience in copy writing, social media marketing, event management, and graphic design through Canva, Mail Chimp and related platforms.
  • Ability to effectively use and manage database systems. Previous work with Bloomerang or Salesforce is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal communication, including oral and written communications.
  • Previous work experience with families or populations experiencing homelessness.
  • An understanding of poverty and the effects of trauma in the experience of homelessness.
  • Ability to solve problems, whether technical or people‑related issues, and to work independently.
  • Appreciation for diversity, and sensitivity to people who are facing challenging situations.
  • Ability to follow confidentiality guidelines.
  • Must be able to drive, sit at a desk, lift 25 pounds, and operate office equipment (computer, copier, shredder, and telephones).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
