A growing engineering and project delivery firm based in Cookstown is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer / BIM Technician to join their design team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-impact mechanical and infrastructure projects within the water and wastewater sectors, contributing from initial concept through to installation and commissioning.

• Mechanical design of water/wastewater systems based on client specifications
• Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using Plant 3D
• Create and coordinate 3D models using Revit, Plant 3D, and other BIM tool
• Produce general arrangement drawings, elevations, sections, and fabrication details
• Prepare technical documentation, pump calculations, equipment schedules, and specifications
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to source equipment and services
• Support in compiling technical submissions for client review
• Attend and contribute to regular project design and site meetings
• Collaborate with internal disciplines (process, electrical, ICA engineers)
• Ensure compliance with quality, environmental and health & safety procedures
• Be involved in full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning

Essential:

• HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar mechanical design role
• Proficient in 3D design software (e.g., Revit, Inventor, Solid Works)
• Experience in fabrication design and working within a multidisciplinary team
• Innovative approach with strong attention to detail

Desirable:

• Experience with AEC/BIM tools such as Navisworks, Civils 3D, Plant 3D
• Previous exposure to water/wastewater or M&E infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with ISO
  19650 / BS1192 BIM standards
• Understanding of commercial aspects (quotations, estimates, equipment sourcing)
