Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery/deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to customers to promote items.
• Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh, correctly portioned products to prevent shrinkage.
• Recommend bakery or deli items to customers.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens properly.
• Follow food safety and temperature guidelines.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes.
• Label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
• Check product quality and review "sell by" dates.
• Maintain store layout knowledge and assist customers in locating products.
• Stay current with store promotions and product knowledge.
• Maintain inventory and temperature logs.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers.
• Adhere to food safety, safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
• Handle customer and employee accidents appropriately.
• Work effectively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding store information.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge
• Ability to obtain a food handler permit

Desired Experience

• Customer service experience
• Bakery or deli experience preferred
• Retail experience helpful
