Assists in performing specific duties and activities for surgical patients in the OR.

Reports to:

Manager - Surgery; FLSA:
Non-exempt

• Prepares rooms to include the transportation of patients, positioning of patients, room readiness and the turnover processes between surgical procedures.
• Assembles equipment and performs environmental sanitation within the operating room and immediate ancillary units.
• Scrubs to assist surgeon with instrument passing, retracting suture cutting, setting up of equipment on sterile field, maintain sterile field, assisting with draping, gowning, gloving and counting. Retrieves specimen from field and gives to circulator. Verbally confirms specimen type and source with surgeon.
• Provides direct patient care as assigned.
• Participates in departmental PI plan to include regulatory and professional standards compliance.
• Employee shall endeavor to provide a superior patient experience.

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Surgical Technologist Program
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
