Description
Responsible for the care, maintenance, & operation of all lab equipment; performance of all laboratory procedures (waived, moderate and high complexity) ; assess, and document quality control and quality improvement activities; maintain accurate departmental records (including maintenance logs); evaluate laboratory results for feasibility; maintain clear, concise & accurate patient records; troubleshoot instruments as required. Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols. Adheres to strict patient identification procedures. Patient testing may be provided to patients in all age categories based on assigned area of responsibility. This is a non-exempt position.
6A-6P Every Other Weekend
Qualifications
Preferred: B.S. degree with national MT certification (ASCP preferred). Minimum: A.S. degree with national MT certification (ASCP preferred);
Knowledge of theory & practice of all phases of medical technology required.
>1 yrs in hospital environment generally required; >3 years’ experience in hospital environment preferred. Strong Blood Bankskills required.
Must exhibit excellent critical thinking and organizational skills to perform as a generalist in a high paced hospital environment. Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis. Differentiates and resolves technical, instrument, physiologic causes of problems or unexpected test results. Must be computer literate. Experience with Meditech is a plus.
