A well‑established charity operating across Wales is seeking a Management Accounts Assistant to join its central finance team. The organisation provides a wide range of support services to individuals facing complex and co‑occurring life challenges, including mental health needs, substance use issues, housing instability, and social vulnerabilities.
Working in a mission‑driven environment, the charity brings together decades of experience from multiple established Welsh support organisations. The finance team plays a crucial role in ensuring services remain sustainable, well‑resourced, and compliant with financial standards.
Role
Purpose:
To support the Management Accountant in producing accurate, timely, and high‑quality management accounts and financial reporting. This role is integral to maintaining strong financial controls and supporting sustainable service delivery.
- Monthly management accounts preparation – prepare and upload journal entries into the finance system (Net Suite) using Excel.
- Review monthly income and expenditure for designated service areas.
- Process adjustments including deferred/accrued income, prepayments, and accruals.
- Investigate and report variances between actuals and budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Reconcile a variety of balance sheet nominal accounts.
- Maintain and update the contract management system with accurate and organised records.
- Support the preparation of financial claims and returns to external funders.
- Assist with costings for tender submissions.
- Provide general support to the wider finance team as required.
- Demonstrate commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Show empathy and understanding for service users supported by the charity.
- Carry out any duties reasonably aligned with the role.
- AAT qualification or working towards it.
- Experience with in a busy finance department.
- Experience supporting the creation of budgets and management accounts.
- At least 3 years' experience using accounting software systems.
- Ability to produce meaningful financial reports for decision‑makers.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to support process development and system improvements.
- Part‑qualified in CIMA / ACCA / ACA.
- Ability to write system‑generated finance reports.
- Experience using Oracle‑based systems such as Net Suite.
