Job OverviewCoastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for a full-time Law Enforcement Officer in the Department of Public Safety. The officer will practice community‑oriented policing, enforce university rules and regulations, local, state and federal laws, and statutes to preserve peace and protect life and property, with a focus on problem solving.

Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent, satisfactory driving history, and no criminal history.
Preferred QualificationsSouth Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Law Enforcement Officer Class I certification is preferred.
Duties include, but are not limited to:- Proactively patrol assigned areas, observe for criminal and traffic violations and suspicious activity, and make recommendations to improve community safety.
- Enforce university rules, state and local laws, issue citations and/or make arrests in accordance with the law and university orders.
- Answer calls for service, regulate and direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic when needed.
- Conduct investigations on accidents and criminal activity, secure evidence, question suspects and witnesses, and take statements.
- Attend court, enter testimony, and participate in Alcohol/Narcotic undercover operations.
- Document all enforcement and investigative activities, complete departmental forms, and follow up investigations to prosecute criminal activity.
- Provide exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, students, visitors, and the community.
- Respond to emergencies safely and quickly, exercising due care for everyone on campus.
- Develop partnerships with law enforcement and the community, plan and coordinate law‑enforcement activities to accomplish these partnerships.
Law Enforcement Officer II (JC20//FTE-S01105P), full-time position with benefits.
SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $39,764.00 (minimum) – $56,670.00 (midpoint). Twelve (12) hour shifts, work hours vary. Weekends, holidays and special events are required. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
