Overview
Provides protection of life and property with municipal boundaries of Horry County Government, and investigation of crime. This class is FLSA non-exempt.
ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years of certified law enforcement experience.
- Analyzing and interpreting statistical data and creating graphic representations of data; specifically, in an investigative or law enforcement setting.
- Collecting and interpreting data and information from a variety of sources and preparing reports using reporting tools.
- Creating queries to extract data from relational databases.
- Working with federal, state, and local law enforcement databases.
- Working with Arc GIS Mapping, I2 analytical software, and Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge and experience using data formatting and reporting tools in Microsoft Excel (especially the use of sort function, filters, pivot tables, and data duplication).
- Knowledge of research and data analysis methods and techniques.
- Preserving & collecting stored data from digital devices (e.g., cell phones, computers, tablets, etc) electronically in the field and in a lab setting, using forensically sound processes & tools.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days from date of hire; must possess a Law Enforcement Officer's Standards and Training Commission Certificate. Ability to obtain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within 6 months from date of hire.
