Glendinning Products LLC – a leading manufacturer of remote control systems for the worldwide marine industry - currently has a job opening for an Embedded Product Design Engineer. The candidate will work in conjunction with other members of our Product Development team to design, build, and support the entire range of electronic remote control systems.
Responsibilities- Development of new products which control the propulsion system of marine vessels.
- Refinements and extensions to existing products to meet new customer requirements and market opportunities.
- Investigation and application of new technologies which can be incorporated into future products.
- Participate and direct the testing & certification of products to applicable standards.
- Lead the hardware design, development, and testing of the electronic control product line.
- Lead the software / firmware design to implement both low-level and application. This includes both development of new products as well as the extension / improvement of existing products to meet new customer requirements.
- Lead the design team through the process of code validation and electronic product testing.
- Interface with testing labs to confirm that our products meet all applicable industry standards and requirements.
- When necessary, assist the customer service team in responding to product technical support.
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. It may be possible to waive this requirement with the presentation of demonstrated knowledge and experience of embedded system architecture, including both hardware and software.
- At least 2 years of embedded system development experience, preferably with Microchip controllers. A demonstrated ability to design both low voltage analog and digital electrical circuits is essential.
- At least 2 years of experience writing firmware [C language] for microcontrollers in resource limited application. The ability to develop programs in a GUI environment (Visual Studio) is a plus.
- Experience with the CAN communications protocol, preferably including experience with the J1939 and NMEA
2000 protocol. - Must have proven oral and written communication skills. The ability to write clear and professional documentation of work is essential.
