Job Requirements- Accredited personal training certification
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or received 1 month after hire date)
- Willingness to work hard and desire to learn
- Ability to handle confrontation in a confident and professional manner
- Master the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) in the following areas:
- Taking resting heart rates and exercise heart rates (manual readings)
- Taking blood pressure (manual readings)
- Circumference measurements
- Body composition via skin-fold calipers
- Functional movement screenings
The purpose of the Personal Training position is to assess, encourage, and educate clients following proper guidelines for testing and exercise prescription. This position will not only be responsible for potentially taking on existing clients, but will also be responsible for growing their own clientele and business through the T-Rec and teaching gym members the benefits of personal training. This position will report directly to the Fitness Center Assistant Director.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Provide clients with comprehensive fitness assessment during which you will establish baseline measurement and SMART goals based around fitness assessment results and clients goals.
- Provide clients with safe, reasonable programming that they can perform with you during training sessions as well as on their own
- Keep clients motivated through ample communication
- Communicate with campus dietitian in regards to client nutrition
- Talk to members and the campus community about their goals and inform them of the personal training program
- Advise clients about important safety concerns
- Demonstrate proper form of exercises
- Ensure clients have made payment to the front office prior to starting personal training (new clients and renewals)
