Required Experience: Apprentice – 4+ years of line work;
Journeyman – 5+ years of line work. Pre‑employment Fitness for Duty exam required.

Responsibilities: Under directive supervision, perform high and low voltage line work, maintain electric transmission, underground and distribution conductors, structures and equipment. Key tasks include:

• Use hot line tools.
• Work on all types of conductors.
• Install transformer installations, make tap changes, and install primary metering equipment.
• Locate trouble and restore service on all classes of lines, substations, sectionalizing equipment, etc.
• Make underground and submarine cable installations, jointing, and pothead installation.
• Install pole type regulators and transformers.
• Phase and check rotation on circuits.
• Make field tests of distribution transformers.
• Check for ground faults on circuits or equipment.
• Erect and maintain steel towers and substations.
• Direct work of assistants, instruct and train other employees.
• Plan and lay out work safely and efficiently (Journeyman).
• Prepare reports and records, handle materials, and act in leadership capacity when required (Journeyman).

• Traverse uneven terrain, wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces while carrying tools up to 50 lbs.
• Work in extreme heat and cold, confined spaces, and alone for restoration services.
• Perform physical tasks such as digging, pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting up to 115 lbs.
• Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Operate trucks, heavy equipment, and work safely around energized lines.
• Work at heights for extended periods, from bucket trucks on energized overhead lines.
• Climb structures, poles, ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grip, and feel.
• Perform emergency rescue operations, including lowering injured coworkers from height.
• Exercise sound judgment for safe work in hazardous environments.
• Follow safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Work up to 16 continuous hours per day and work overtime when necessary.
• Conduct basic computer tasks such as time entry, email, training, and reporting.
• Communicate effectively within the team.
• Manage stress and handle tense situations.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

• Work under unusual surroundings and normal conditions for this job.
• Receive and transmit orders; inspire respect and confidence of superiors and subordinates.
