General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store and for general operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening/closing, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean, safe work area; also execute and supervise Company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand that safety is number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintain high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment.
  • Report/correct any unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Secure building entrance/exit, perform electronic article surveillance checks, protect cash office and armored carrier pick‑ups.
  • Ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Handle customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers and Associates with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure Associates follow dress code.
  • Keep all areas clean and merchandised to standard.
  • Perform daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
  • Responsible for receiving merchandise and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Clean and organize stockrooms.
  • Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Ensure back‑stock is secured and processed per policy.
  • Merchandise department including back stock, reduce loss, maintain monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Perform floor moves, promotional signing, and re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Comply with Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Maintain PVM system and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Maximize productivity by minimizing extra steps at the front end.
  • Manage front‑end pace and presence; control line to expedite wait times.
  • Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other procedures.
  • Control Associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensure all equipment works and maintain supplies.
  • Expedite go‑backs, secure tagging and ticketing.
  • Teach “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain and clean fitting rooms.
  • Audit and account for fitting‑room garment tags.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance, scanning, ticketing, and security tagging.
