About the Role

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes by providing respiratory care in various settings, including emergency rooms and hospital wards. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. This role demands the ability to work independently while maintaining clear and effective communication with patients and the healthcare team.

Ultimately, your work will ensure the delivery of superior quality respiratory therapy services that enhance patient comfort and recovery.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid Respiratory Therapist licensure in the United States.
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an emergency room or critical care setting.
  • Advanced certifications such as Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist (NPS) or Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and respiratory care technology.
  • Strong manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform patient care tasks effectively.
  • Additional training in patient education and communication strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical assessments and physician orders.
  • Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation support.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary, documenting all care provided accurately in medical records.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to respiratory emergencies, providing critical interventions in high-pressure situations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques and disease management.

The required skills enable the Respiratory Therapist to deliver comprehensive respiratory care by accurately assessing patient needs and administering appropriate treatments. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with healthcare teams and educating patients, ensuring clarity and empathy in all interactions.
