Position: Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Rehab (Full-Time)

Description

Exalt Health, an acute rehabilitation hospital, provides an intensive rehabilitation program, and admitted patients must be able to tolerate three hours of intense rehabilitation services per day. Focused on caring for patients with complex rehabilitative needs such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, head trauma, medically debilitation conditions, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary amputations, orthopedic injuries, and multiple major traumas.

Position Summary

As a Physical Therapist, you will play a vital part in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life following illness, injury, or surgery. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions to address a variety of patient needs. You will also educate patients and their families on self-management techniques to ensure continued progress after discharge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Education patients on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):
    Dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
  • Support patient development of functional skills:
    Strengthening, coordination, balance, and endurance.
  • Support patient development of cognitive skills:
    Memory, attention, problem-solving, and reasoning.
  • Pre-vocational or vocational skills:
    Returning to work or retraining for a new career.
  • Recommending appropriate home modifications or assistive devices to ensure a safe and successful transition back home.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other rehab professionals to develop a comprehensive plan of care for each patient.
  • Document patient progress and outcomes to measure treatment effectiveness.
  • Educate patients and their families on strategies to maintain their improved function at home.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest occupational therapy practices through continuing education.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Licenses or Certifications
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice professional Occupational Therapy in the state where currently practicing.
  • Current BLS required via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required).
Education, Training, and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (required).
  • 2 years of Inpatient Rehabilitation experience (preferred).
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Proficient in documentation and medical record keeping.
  • Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in rehabilitation medicine.
