Job Description: The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of a physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care. This role offers significant flexibility for field staff, with opportunities to schedule visits in the Conroe, TX area.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities- Provide direct physical therapy according to directions of physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
- Treat patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
- Direct and aid patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle re‑education, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
- Utilize physical agents, including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
- Observe and report patients’ reactions to treatment and any changes in condition to the physical therapist and organization personnel.
- Instruct patients in the use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Maintain necessary records, clinical notes, and conference notes, incorporated into the patient’s clinical record within prescribed time frames.
- Participate in organization Home Care Team Meetings and In‑service Education Program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate’s degree in science or applied science approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Current certification or license as required by state law.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
- Licensed driver with a fully insured automobile in good working order, meeting state or organization requirements.
