Lead Electrical Engineer – Site based – Northern Houston – STQ Partners.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to design and implement complex electrical power systems. In this role, you will lead engineering and project management efforts for utility-grade, industrial, commercial, and domestic power projects, ensuring technical excellence from conception to delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead engineering and project management for assigned projects, coordinating across disciplines to achieve the most cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure all engineering work is completed on schedule, within budget, and meets strict quality standards through rigorous review processes.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and change management protocols, providing regular updates to clients and internal leadership.
- Oversee the quality and execution of all engineering deliverables.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development through training and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain strong, professional client relationships.
- Design and develop comprehensive electrical documentation, including scope definitions, specifications, data sheets, schematics (single line and three-line diagrams), wiring diagrams, and physical layout drawings for low to medium-voltage industrial power distribution systems.
- Specify and procure electrical equipment by preparing detailed purchase requisitions.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and inspections for relay panels, Power Distribution Centers, and related equipment.
- Ensure all designs and practices comply with pertinent codes (NEC, etc.), governing regulations, and industry standards.
- Review project estimates to validate technical feasibility and product offerings.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of professional experience in electrical design and engineering.
- 5+ years of hands‑on product knowledge with key components of Protection & Control Panels (e.g., SEL relays, Electroswitch equipment, test switches).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, growth‑oriented mindset with the ability to manage complex technical challenges.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, driving record check, and drug screening.
- Capable of occasionally lifting 50+ lbs and performing physical tasks related to inspections and testing.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods (4+ hours at a time).
- 5+ years of experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or Substation Design Suite (SDS).
