POSITION TITLE:

Bilingual Instructional Aide

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To facilitate and assist in providing a quality program of instruction designed to meet the affective, linguistic and cognitive needs of limited English proficient students.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assist bilingual teacher in providing quality dual-language instruction for limited English proficient students.

* Support and carry out activities related to the bilingual program.

* Perform duties involving the supervision of students.

* Communicate with students, teachers, staff, and parents.

* Present a positive role model for students.

* Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.

* Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

* Regular attendance.

* Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

* Previous work with children in job-related capacity or volunteer work

* Experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar agencies or institutions

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

* High School Diploma or GED

* Valid Texas educational aide certificate (must obtain within 30 days of employment)

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Fluent in Spanish

* Ability to work well with others

* Positive human relations skills

* Appreciation of and patience with children

* Excellent communication skills in Spanish and in English

* Ability to follow oral and written instructions

* Positive work performance regarding promptness, attendance, and productivity

* Willingness to take initiative
