Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Part-Time Science Lab Coordinator II supports and manages laboratory materials, supplies, equipment, and laboratory experiences. This is accomplished through close coordination with the professors' lectures and a professional knowledge of the sciences. Primarily performs coordination duties characterized by facilitating the harmonious working of peers or colleagues toward the same end. Coordinators do not generally directly supervise staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and/or experience with infection control policies and procedures and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA)
- Proven astute and broad knowledge of the sciences and related safety protocols for the successful handling of day-to-day operations
- Strong skills in the use of microcomputers and related word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum instruction and also cooperatively as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to provide dynamic and proactive educational leadership
- Proven effectiveness in allocating and managing resources
- Physically capable of some heavy lifting and moving, some climbing, and moving rapidly through the lab rooms
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate power equipment and determine equipment usage
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to work collaboratively
