POSITION TITLE:

Budget Clerk

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist the principal in the administration of the campus' budget transactions. Perform general bookkeeping and maintain campus budget financial records.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain complete and systematic records of campus budget transactions

Record details of financial transactions in appropriate journals and ledgers

Maintain accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.

Maintain general ledger by transferring account summaries.

Examine all computerized general ledger transactions daily for accuracy, make corrections as needed, and inform principal of problems.

Balance general ledger and subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.

Work with organization sponsors to make inquiries and resolve discrepancies in account records.

Transfer funds between accounts as directed by principal.

Prepare financial statements, income statements, and cost reports to reflect financial status of accounts.

Perform routine bookkeeping tasks including simple arithmetic operations to maintain campus budget records.

Maintain physical and computerized files and records.

Maintains confidentiality

Regular attendance

Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

• One to three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to use calculator (10-key by touch)
• Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and do word processing
• Proficient skills in typing, keyboarding, and file maintenance
• Ability to work with numbers in accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines
