Overview

Lakeview, Oregon; and Kane, Pennsylvania, producing softwood and hardwood lumber. Our Chester location also includes the Builders Supply retail hardware and building materials store.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing the reforestation program to effectively reestablish conifers within a forest ecosystem
  • Prepare and administer contracts for reforestation activities including tree planting, vegetation management, site preparation, and thinning.
  • Inspect and monitor reforestation projects to evaluate field performance and recommend appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain documentation of reforestation activities.
  • Assist with grant writing and grant management.
  • Perform timber marking and timber sale preparation.
  • Collect forest inventory data.
  • Assist the Wildlife Biologist.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of reforestation activities and Sierra Nevada Forest types.
  • Ability to navigate in mountainous areas using map and compass or GPS.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and GIS-based programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a team member.
  • Ability to perform rigorous, field-based work in all weather conditions, on steep, brush-filled terrain.
  • Ability to operate a chainsaw.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources, agriculture, or a similar field or the equivalent experience.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report.
Environmental Conditions

May be exposed to rough terrain, dust, noise, trip hazards, and extreme weather and temperatures.

Required Personal Protective Equipment

Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, a face shield, and a respirator.

Salary

Salary dependent on experience ($70,500 - $75,000)
