Stonington Institute, a division of Universal Health Services (UHS), has an immediate opening for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offer medical detox as well as residential addictions treatment, and operate outpatient services at multiple locations. The Inn at Trails Corner provides additional on-site accommodations and resources for clients.

Essential Responsibilities:

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the LPN contributes to client care by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner, and by participating in the development of a plan of care in consultation with nursing personnel.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reconciles medications and performs health screenings.
  • Notes, transcribes, and implements Physician orders; faxes prescriptions to pharmacy as needed.
  • Participates in the assisting, delegating, and giving of directed care.
  • Contributes to the development of a care strategy in consultation with other nursing personnel.
  • Evaluates clients medical condition.
  • Inventory medications and update medication reconciliation form in chart.
  • Reports to staff on medical conditions and medication changes.
  • Ensures medications and supplies are available and orders medications from the pharmacy as needed.
  • Educates clients on medications, medication management, health maintenance, substance abuse, and related topics.
  • Monitors medical aspects of treatment for individuals with substance dependence and behavioral health conditions.

Qualifications

LPN Requirement:

  • Graduate of a licensed professional nurse training program.
  • Licensed in the State of Connecticut as a licensed professional nurse.
  • Minimum of one year experience in the Mental Health or Substance Abuse field preferred.
