Position: DIRECTOR OF NURSING
Location: North Stonington

Director of Nursing Opportunity

Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offer medical detox, residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment in Groton, CT.

Responsibilities
  • Key member of the Leadership Team, integrating and coordinating a patient‑centric nursing strategy with a hands‑on approach focused on patient care.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to institutional goals and objectives.
  • Focus on the following five key areas:
    • People: Create an environment that supports employee development and teamwork to deliver compassionate patient care in a safe setting.
    • Service: Establish systems, processes and care standards to support the delivery of patient care in a fiscally sound environment of service excellence.
    • Quality: Provide accessible, timely, efficient, cost‑effective care using evidence‑based practice and continuous performance improvement.
    • Growth/Community: Foster an environment that supports growth and community through activities, partnerships and shared goals.
    • Finance: Support financial stability to achieve the mission and strategy.
Qualifications
  • Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of employment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program;
    Master of Science in Nursing strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices and highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Five or more years of progressive nursing management experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Proficiency with common computer‑based applications such as email, word processing, and various databases.
  • Occasional U.S. travel for conferences and UHS management meetings.
