Overview
Description
: A Machine Shop Assistant supports machinists by maintaining a clean, organized workspace, prepping materials (cutting, cleaning, deburring), managing inventory, assisting with basic machine tending (loading, chip removal, adding fluids), packaging finished parts, and performing general shop upkeep, acting as a crucial entry-level role for learning machining operations.
- Shop Maintenance:
Sweeping, organizing tools/workstations, chip removal, cleaning machines, maintaining coolant/oil levels. - Material Handling:
Receiving, cleaning, staging raw materials, moving parts, and preparing materials for machines. - Secondary Operations:
Deburring parts, basic assembly, operating saws or tumblers, washing parts. - Machine Support:
Loading/unloading materials, assisting operators with tasks, checking fluid levels, general machine upkeep. - Inventory & Shipping:
Counting, packaging, boxing, and labeling finished goods for shipment. - Safety & Compliance:
Following all safety protocols, wearing PPE, maintaining a safe work environment.
