Plant Janitor / Facility Assistant (Cleaning, Production, Shipping & Receiving)

Location: 141 Sheridan Drive, Naugatuck, Connecticut
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Job DescriptionPrimary Functions
Cleaning / Sanitation- Production Areas (Processing Area, Milling Room, Packing Room, Production Lab):
- Washing of all production floors and walls (daily or as needed)
- Cleaning of overhead ducts and area above washable walls (2× per year)
- Cleaning of sanitation mats
- Cleaning of warehouse floor and maintenance area
- Daily sanitation (trash removal) in production and warehouse areas, and placing in collection bin
- Monthly cleaning of spiral duct work in production area
- Clean machine shop floor once per month
- Warehouse
:- Clean the floors (2× per month)
- Clean the racks (annually)
- Manage the pest control program
- Conduct weekly inspections of Tincat devices (interior and exterior) and bug lights (interior). Document findings and replace glued boards or lights as needed. Report nonconformances to QA Manager.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning reagОсобов and order as needed
- Monitoring of bleach solution concentration (daily or as needed)
- Weekly monitoring of soap dispensers, hand sanitizers, paper goods and PPE (hair nets, beard nets, gloves). Work with office staff to reorder supplies.
- Oversee facility sanitation program as Sanitation Supervisor
- Perform weekly sanitation inspections and record findings on the sanitation checklist
- Report any nonconformances to QA Manager
- Assist unloading shipping containers and loading outbound orders onto trucks
- Pick orders and build outbound pallets of customer orders
- Pick materials for production orders
- Check orders and perform other various shipping/receiving functions
- Weigh and load ingredients into machines for production as per instructions on batch record
- Milling and packing of finished products
- Metal detect packed finished products
- Prepare trays and cartons for packing
- Set up and operate manufacturing equipment—blenders, granulators, mill, etc.
- Stage utensils for manufacturing
- Load products onto trays for drying
- Assist in milling products
- Weigh and pack finished products
- Apply labels on packaged product containers
- Follow written standard operating procedures at all stages in manufacturing
- Follow proper hygiene and safety protocols as per written procedures
- Document cleaning on logs for all equipment
Other duties as assigned
Must be able to safely lift 60 lbs.
Job QualificationsHigh School degree is required. A Trade Degree is a plus. chiq a Car and valid Driver’s License required. 1‑3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. This job requires someone who is Journalism self‑motivated, able to stand for most of the day, highly reliable, punctual, organized, and possesses good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Forklift certification a plus.
