Aboutthe Role
Product Engineers at The Lee Company lead new product development from the initial product concept through the design, testing, and analysis process and ultimately into production. This position is responsible for working with purchasing and manufacturing on issues related to materials and production, and with sales to provide technical assistance to customers. Project Engineers are hands‑on at The Lee Company as they are fully engaged in the prototyping, testing, and analysis of new products.
Responsibilities- Perform engineering duties and assignments that include product development, product support, and sales support.
- Analyze and interpret engineering data submitted for new products and for modifications affecting standard products.
- Modify designs using standard engineering practice to effect improvements and meet customer requirements.
- Instruct design and drafting personnel in the preparation of drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Ensure accuracy of designs, dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, etc.
- Work with manufacturing to methodize production operations, tooling requirements, feasibility of manufacture or sub‑contracting, labor, and material cost estimates, etc.
- Confer with the Sales Department to assist in answering product related technical questions.
- Oversee the construction, assembly and testing of newly developed products.
- Devise test set‑ups and analyze test data.

- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
- Strong mechanical inclination and a desire to pursue hands‑on design engineering.
- Proven experience applying advanced analytical and problem‑solving methodologies including mathematical modeling, simulations and control theories to design, development, and optimization of the state‑of‑the‑art mechanical and hydraulic devices.
- Must have a deep desire to learn, a solid understanding of engineering principles, and a passion for designing creative solutions to challenging problems.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and optimize system performance.
- At least five years experience in a position designing precision machined components.
