Job Description:
Special Assignment - Para educator
Ashford School is looking for a dynamic person for a per diem special assignment in an elementary classroom. The duration of this assignment is not known at the time of posting.
Applicants should be:
* Self
-motivated and eager to assist students with social interactions with same age peers.
* Have a willingness to learn and the flexibility to work with a variety of students and staff.
* Have knowledge of assisting with daily living skills. Physical lifting and positioning may be needed for students with physical needs.
* Able to communicate with the student's case manager and general education teacher.
* Possess skill in motivating students to actively participate and develop independence.
* Have the ability or willingness to learn to assist with modification of materials and instruction.
* Have some knowledge of positive reinforcement, behavior/sensory regulation and core curriculum.
* Familiar with de-escalation language and techniques.
