Title: UPenn BSTR Teaching Fellow
Reports to: Appropriate Academic Department Chair
Schedule/travel: Academic Year. Occasional travel.
FLSA: Exempt

Position Summary: The UPenn BSTR is a two-year program designed specifically for young educators eager to develop their skills working in independent boarding schools. Over the course of the program, fellows develop pedagogical and leadership skills, build relationships with other independent school educators, and work closely with veteran mentors who challenge them and help them develop as passionate and reflective teachers.
Fellows meet once per term with UPenn professors and fellows from other schools, attend an intensive workshop at UPenn in June and complete coursework throughout the two years online with the Penn Graduate School of Education. Applicants should be prepared to commit to a two-year program. A Bachelor's degree is required.
The ideal candidate will be:
- a student-centered educator, skilled in discussion facilitation;
- eager to work collaboratively with colleagues;
- an effective oral and written communicator;
- committed to developing an equitable and inclusive classroom and community;
- committed to improving their practice through peer observation and professional development;
- dedicated to making positive contributions to the student experience both inside and outside the classroom, including in dorms, on teams and clubs, and through advising.
- Teaching two sections in the first year, and three sections in the second, consistent with the mission, values, and standards established by Kent School;
- Completing all University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education coursework as scheduled and fulfilling all degree obligations for the two-year ISTR program.
- Coaching two seasons of interscholastic sports or an equivalent (usually three seasons) of co-curricular activities
- Performing regular duty in our residential program
- Participating in Faculty committees
- Maintaining Public Passenger Endorsement to drive a school vehicle for school activities.
- Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test;
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance;
- Work is performed on a smoke free campus.
