Hours: Monday-Friday, 6.25 hours per day when school is in session for students and one day prior to students returning to school after the summer break (181 days per school year)
Helen Keller Middle School (HKMS), part of the Easton–Redding Region 9 School District, is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional / Student Supervisor to join our dedicated middle school team. This is an immediate opening and a unique opportunity for individuals interested in education, counseling, or youth development.
Position OverviewThe Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with learning and behavioral needs in both classroom and small-group settings. This role emphasizes student supervision, coaching, relationship-building, and positive behavioral support, helping students develop skills to be successful academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities- Support students with special education needs in general education and specialized classroom settings
- Provide structured supervision and guidance during academic and non-academic times
- Coach students in organization, behavior regulation, social skills, and problem-solving
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, counselors, and administrators
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment
- Reinforce school expectations using a firm but fair approach
- Education or counseling major, recent graduate, or related experience preferred
- Dependable, professional, and student-centered
- Demonstrates a calm, consistent, and firm but fair approach to student supervision
- Enjoys working with middle school students and helping them reach their full potential
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
