Dental Insurance Coordinator (Full-Time) — Killingly Dental Care (KDC)

Killingly, CT | Job Type: Full-Time (Monday–Thursday, Fridays optional/rotating) | Compensation:

What You’ll Do (Primary Responsibilities)- Insurance Verification + Benefit Breakdown
- Verify eligibility and benefits before appointments
- Confirm deductibles, frequencies, coverage limitations, and annual maximums
- Communicate clearly with patients so there are no surprises
- Claims + Follow-Up (AR Ownership)
- Submit claims accurately and on time
- Track unpaid or delayed claims and follow up aggressively
- Resolve denied claims quickly and professionally
- Ensure proper documentation is included (narratives, attachments, X-rays, etc.)
- Posting + Reconciliation
- Post insurance payments accurately
- Identify underpayments and initiate appeals when needed
- Manage EOBs and coordinate corrections with the front desk and clinical team
- Patient Financial Support (Confidence + Clarity)
- Help patients understand how insurance works (and why it sometimes doesn’t)
- Support the treatment coordinator and front office with clear financial explanations
- Collect patient balances when appropriate and ensure accounts are current
- Coordination + Communication
- Work closely with doctors, assistants, hygiene, and the front desk team
- Maintain a calm, professional tone even with difficult insurance calls
- Bring solutions — not excuses
- Claims submitted fast and clean
- Denials reduce over time
- Insurance AR stays low and organized
- Patients feel informed and confident (not confused and frustrated)
- The schedule runs without financial surprises
Required:
- 1+ years experience in dental insurance coordination (or strong equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of PPO insurance, claim submission, and EOBs
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with numbers, deadlines, and follow-up
Preferred (Not Required):
- Dentrix experience
- Knowledge of medical billing for medically necessary dental care
- Experience in fast-paced/high production practices
- Familiarity with sleep apnea / airway-focused dentistry
