Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr – $75,000.00/yr

Staff Accountant

A mission‑driven organization is seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and help maintain strong financial controls. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on accounting, values accuracy, and wants to contribute to meaningful organizational work. Nonprofit experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly and year‑end close processes
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support annual audit preparation and respond to auditor requests
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate fund and grant reporting
  • Identify and recommend process improvements within the accounting function
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of hands‑on accounting experience (nonprofit experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with accounting software (Quick Books or similar a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
