The purpose of this position is to maintain City grounds, right of ways, and facilities, roadways, drainage, and/or install and repair City sewer and/or water services equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Digs holes, installs piping, and performs debris removal after job is complete.
- Installs, repairs, and services sewers, sewer mains, manholes, and sewer cleanouts.
- Loads truck with supplies and materials needed to complete the job.
- Clear Right of Way by performing landscaping as needed per job.
- Performs other similar duties as required.

- North Carolina Grade I Wastewater Collection Certification (Wastewater)
Physical Requirements
- Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Very Heavy:
Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 - 100 pounds frequently, or from 20 up to 50 pounds constantly. - Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, and physical hazards.
- Reading and interpreting data
- Performing basic mathematical calculations
- Operating machinery and hand tools
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
The ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines, with up to one (1) year of relevant experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
